Roy Carl Jeff Baker passed away on September 18, 2011 at the Stilwell Nursing Home, at the age of 90 years and 7 months. Roy was born at Bunch Ok, to Connor and Agnes Thomas Baker on February 2, 1921.He was preceded in death by his parents, two older brothers Dan G. and Leonard A. Baker, one younger sister, Margaret Mott of Salem Oregon, and one son Gary Joe Hall of Phoenix Arizona and one SoninLaw Jeff Sasnett of Wagoner, OK. He is survived by his wife Lucille HallBaker, two daughters, Cathy Sasnett of Wagoner Oklahoma and Connie Hall of Paris Arkansas, two sons Randall Hall and Don Hall both of Stilwell, Oklahoma. Three grandchildren Dianna Hall of Stilwell Oklahoma, Charity Grooms and Bethany Rhyne both of Wagoner Oklahoma and one great grandchild Elsi Annabelle Grooms of Wagoner Oklahoma. He remained in Adair County until 1938 then spent one year in a WPA in Grand Junction Colorado. He returned to Stilwell for a short time then moved to California. He worked on the Shasta Dam and for Kaiser Co. in the Shipyards. He married Hazel Jean Batfield on October 5, 1942 and she passed away on February 24, 1996. There were no children. Roy was a World War II veteran. He entered the service in late 1942 and was in the U.S. Army Air Corp. He was honorably discharged as a Staff Sergant in 1945. He worked for several years for Pickering Lumber Corp. as a brakeman and conductor on their company railroad hauling logs to their mill in Standard California. He worked for the California Department of Corrections as a Correctional Officer and Correctional Program Supervisor until his retirement in 1983. Roy loved hunting and fishing. He and Lucille had many pleasant and enjoyable days fishing at Tenkiller Lake. Roy was an honorable life member of the Mother Lode Bass Anglers Bass Club in Jamestown California and fished their tournaments for several years. He especially enjoyed his hunting trips to Colorado with his favorite hunting partners Keith Harlan of Jamestown California and Ed Guillemin of Carson City, Nevada. Roy will be missed by his family and his many friends that he made throughout his life. Graveside services were held at 2:00 pm on Wednesday, September 21, 2011 at Pilgrims Rest Cemetery, Stilwell, OK, with Bro. Calvin Johnson officiating. Interment followed under the direction of RobertsReedCulver Funeral Home.
