Sarah Heustis

d. November 24, 2011

Sarah Adaline Heustis was a woman of many roles. She was a daughter, a wife, a mother, a grandmother, a great grandmother, a sister, an aunt, a friend, a babysitter, and a caretaker to many. Although she took on many roles, her most important role was that of a Christian. She loved going to church and showing people the love of Jesus Christ. She was a role model to everyone who knew her. She was a babysitter for years and had a hand in raising many children. Although she and Howard only had two children, she was Mama Sarah to dozens of others. She not only cared for those children, she taught them the basics of life and lived as an example of the type of person they should strive to be. Sarah also expressed a love for gardening. She was gifted with a green thumb and enjoyed displaying all of her beautiful plants. Sarah was a kind and caring lady that will forever remain in the hearts all who knew her. She was born to John Wesley and Edna Brock Vaughan on December 20, 1928 in a little house in Redbird Holler, Adair County Oklahoma. She was the fourth of ten children. She was preceded in death by her parents, two brothers, Edward Daniel Vaughan and John Thomas Vaughan, her husband Howard Heustis, and one daughter, Ollie Ann Heustis. She is survived by four sisters: Elsa Smallen, Katherine Coombes, Naomi Stephenson, and Dora Coombes and three brothers: Willis, Wallace, and Lebron Vaughan, one son: John Howard Heustis and wife Cheryl of Sand Springs, OK, Six Grandchildren: Crystal, Alicia, Jared, and Jon Zachary Heustis, Chris and Jackie Webb and 9 Great grandchildren. Funeral services were held at 2:00 pm on Monday, November 28, 2011 at RobertsReedCulver Chapel with Darrell Lacie and Audie Vaughan officiating. Interment followed at Old Baptist Mission Cemetery.
