Tommy Worsham

Tommy Dale Worsham, son of Robert D. and Opal (Garrison) Worsham, was born on December 8, 1923 in Stilwell, Oklahoma and passed from this life on July 5, 2015 in Melbourne, Florida at the age of 91 years, 6 months and 27 days.


He married the love of his life Dorothy Jean Tindle on April 16, 1946 and to this union 3 children were born; Donna, Larry and Roger. He worked hard to support his family.


Tommy was born and raised in the Stilwell community and was blessed to be involved with many activities during his long life. He served his country proudly in the United States Army Air Corp. He graduated from Stilwell High School and then went on to receive his Masters Degree from Northeastern State University in 1959. He touched many lives during his long tenure as a teacher. He worked at Maryetta School from 1952 to 1968 serving as a teacher and then went on to become principal. He was the Stilwell Junior High Principal from 1968 until 1982 and then finished out his career with 5 years at Rocky Mountain School which he thoroughly enjoyed.


He also held many other positions some to include serving on the board of directors at the Tahlequah Federal Savings and Loan. He was a member of the First Christian Church where he served on the board and was an Elder. He was past president of the Adair County Teachers Association, Past President of the Legal Aide Organization in Adair County, he also worked for Worsham Family Grocery as a butcher for 35 years. He enjoyed dancing with Dorothy, going fishing and really enjoyed raising cattle on his 40 acre farm while his health permitted.

When his health deteriorated he had to depend on family support and spent the last 7 years with his granddaughter Kimberly who cared for Tom and Dorothy in Florida.


He was preceded in death by his parents, Robert D. and Opal (Garrison) Worsham, 1 brother; Robert "Bob Ed" Worsham and 1 sister; Carol Gaines.


Tommy Dale is survived by a very loving family that includes his children; Donna Ketcher of Melbourne, FL, Larry Dale "Jonas" Worsham and wife Joan Marie Chattanooga, TN, Roger Dean Worsham and wife Cheri of Henderson, NV, granddaughter with whom Tommy lived; Kimberly Ketcher, grandchildren; Angela Hamre of Placentia, CA, Luke Worsham of Kent, WA, John Worsham of Long Beach, CA, Paul, Greg, Nina and Benjamin Worsham all of Chattanooga, TN. Great grandchildren; Carson and Hudson Hamre of Placentia, CA, other relatives and many, many friends also survive him.


Funeral services were held at 10 am on Thursday, July 9, 2015 at Roberts/Reed-Culver Chapel with Roger Worsham officiating. Interment followed at Stilwell City Cemetery.
