It is with heavy hearts that we announce the passing of Uriel Hernandez, who left this world on July 9, 2025, at the tender age of 16. Born on June 11, 2009, in Siloam Springs, Arkansas, Uriel brought joy, laughter, and love to all who knew him. He was cherished as a beloved son, devoted brother, and kind-hearted uncle who will be profoundly missed.
Uriel was a bright light in his family, with a personality that was clever and humorous. He had an innate ability to fill any room with laughter, always ready to share a witty remark or make light of a situation. He was well known for his ability to walk at an astoundingly slow pace. His bravery in trying new things and ambition were evident as he navigated his teenage years. He was a hard worker, earning a job at McDonald's, where his dedication and responsibility showcased his strong character. Uriel was not just a diligent employee; he was a young man who cared deeply about his responsibilities and the people around him.
An avid fan of bowling, gaming, and cars, Uriel often spent his time enjoying life with friends, embracing every moment with enthusiasm. Music was also a big part of his life, resonating with his vibrant spirit. He filled his days with laughter, yet he also had his moments of passion, getting upset when he lost at a game and ensuring that his Jordans were never creased. These memories bring a smile amidst the sorrow, illustrating the joyful essence of who he was.
Educated within the halls of Stilwell Public Schools, Uriel was proud of his accomplishments, especially as he took the pivotal steps towards gaining his driving permit and preparing to become the family driver. His dreams were just starting to take off, and the future presented him with countless opportunities.
Uriel is survived by his loving mother, Benita Hernandez Mora; his father, Gregory Rueda; his siblings, Vaneza Lopez and her husband, Orlando, Adriana Martinez Hernandez and her husband, Juan, Marco Hernandez, and David Lopez; his cherished niece and nephews, Vivian, Bianca, Mateo, and Baby Juan; along with aunts and uncles, Paula Hernandez and Daniel Cerritos, and cousins, Gaby Angeles, Bianca Cerritos, and Kevin Cerritos. Each of them holds their own special memories of Uriel, which will continue to light their hearts.
Over the coming days, services will be held to honor Uriel's life. Visitation will be from 4:00 PM to 8:00 PM on July 15 and July 16 at Roberts Reed Culver Funeral Home in Stilwell, Oklahoma. A funeral service will follow on July 17, starting at 1:00 PM, also at Roberts Reed Culver Funeral Home, leading into a Mass at 2:00 PM at San Juan Diego Catholic Church.
Though Uriel's time on this earth was far too brief, his impact was profound, and his legacy will live on in the lives of those he touched. As we remember him, let us embrace the laughter and light he shared, carrying forward the values he held dear—kindness, responsibility, and courage. Uriel Hernandez, you may have departed from our sight, but you will never leave our hearts.
