Vernon Alvin Scott was born February 2, 1965, in Tahlequah, OK to Homer Scott and Linda Sam. He departed this life on January 30, 2022, in Tahlequah, OK at the age of 56 years, 11 months, and 29 days.
Throughout his life, Vernon made a huge impact on everyone. He made sure to share the Word of God with anyone he encountered. Vernon surrendered to preach in 1997 and he was a loyal and faithful servant to the Lord. Vernon loved God and all that he entailed. He loved spending all his time with his wife, Kathy, and fur baby Boomer which included a lot of traveling. He loved spending time with his family, especially his grandchildren. He was an avid sports fan and the biggest OU Sooner fan. He loved fishing which he had at his back door. Vernon was quite a competitive man which he used through his teaching and coaching career. He received his bachelor’s degree from Northeastern State University and from there he went on to teach for 22 years before his retirement in 2014.
Vernon is survived by his wife of 17 years, Kathy Scott of Grove, Oklahoma and fur baby: Boomer; son: Chance Scott of Stilwell, Oklahoma; daughter: Stephanie aka Stubbers (Robert) Fletcher of Siloam Springs, Arkansas; step-daughters: Kristi (Kevin) Funk, and Kimberly Isonhart all of Eureka, Illoins; grandchildren: Robert Jr., Sadee Rayne, Eden Hope, Madison (Patrick) Simms, and Kennedy Isonhart; brothers: Rick (Dena) Scott, Joe (Mary) Scott, and Bob Scott; sisters: Donna (Ralph) Wolf, Shirley Roberts, Lorene Clinton, and Rene Fleetwood.
He was preceded in death by his parents: Homer Scott and Linda Sam; brothers: Richard Daugherty, Homer D. Scott, and Bill Scott; sisters: Retha Harjo, Vera Deason, Virginia Dunlap, and Jean Lowe; nephews: Joe Scott Jr. and Bruce Daugherty.
Vernon is survived by family, friends, and loved ones. He will truly be missed by all of us. We love you, Vernon.
Funeral services were held at 10 am on Saturday, February 5, 2022 at First Baptist Church, Stilwell, OK with Nathan Jones officiating. Interment followed at Stilwell City Cemetery, Stilwell, OK under the direction of Roberts/Reed-Culver Funeral Home, Stilwell, OK.
