Virgie Mae Murphy, daughter of James Payton and Maggie Mae French Patterson was born June 28, 1923 in Stilwell, Oklahoma and departed this life to be with our Lord on December 24, 2011 in Stilwell, Oklahoma at the age of 88 years, 6 months and 1 day. She was saved as a little girl at Horn Church in the Horn Community. She loved the Lord with all her heart and on August 14, 1994 she became a member of First Baptist Church in Stilwell. As long as her health permitted she loved to attend the senior citizen center everyday where she had many friends. Virgie also enjoyed working in her flowerbeds and taking care of her yard and her weekly visits and singing with her friends from the church. Virgie was married to Ward Howard Murphy and he preceded her in death on August 9, 1994. She was also preceded in death by her parents. She is survived by a very loving family that includes her cousins Eleanor Johnson and husband Kenneth of Tulsa, OK, Lucille Kimble of Stilwell, OK, Kristie Byrd of Stilwell, OK, Ronnie Wear and wife Joyce and Robbie Wear all of Sallisaw, OK, Darla Turner and Leatrice Sue Johnson both of Tulsa, OK, William Ed Johnson of Midland, TX. 2 nephews Mike and Pat Murphy of Evansville, AR, Mary Wear, Morgan Wear, Tanner Wear, Aubrey Byrd, Liz Livers, Preston and Shelly Black were all special people in her life that meant the world to her. She is also survived by other relatives and many friends. Funeral services were held at 2:00 p.m. on Friday, December 30, 2011 at RobertsReedCulver Chapel with Bro. Roger Haney and Bro. Wayne Downey officiating. Interment followed at Pilgrims Rest Cemetery.
