Virgie Starr

May 16, 1930 — July 4, 2018

Virgie Lee (Robinson) Starr traveled to her heavenly home on Wednesday, July 4, 2018. She was born May 16, 1930 in Ryker, Arkansas to Sherman and Pearl (Spears) Robinson. She began her teaching career in the early 60's at Kentucky School. Her career continued with teaching at Cave Springs, Lincoln, AR and Siloam Springs, AR before retiring in 1992 after 30 years of being in the classroom.

Virgie loved life and was always on the go, thus earning her the "GO GRANNY GO" motto from her family. Her hobbies were reading, gardening, crocheting, crafting, sewing and spoiling grandchildren. She was active in many civic organizations: Adair County Historical Society where she worked on the Adair County history book and the KCS depot restoration project: Adair County Home Extension Group holding many positions; Adair County Genealogy Society, volunteering at the KCS depot and helping many people researching their family histories; Adair County Fair Board where she was one of the driving forces behind the construction and fund raising for the new fairground exhibit hall; Silver Haired Legislator, Goingsnake District, Red Hat Ladies, Nancy Ward Society, Friends of the Library, D. A. R., and instructor for 55 Alive driving classes. In addition to her organizational work, she loved to travel and has traveled across the United States and to Hawaii, Mexico, Australia, England, Germany, the Caribbean and many other places making friends along the way

She leaves behind her beloved children: Lyle Starr & wife Beverly of Stilwell, OK, Patti VanTeylingen & husband John of Rifle, Colorado, and Lois Jarvis & husband Michael of Verdigris, OK.
