Wanda Catcher, age 95, passed away from this life on March 29, 2023, at her home. She was born on June 25, 1927, at Elm Grove in Adair County to John Everret and Lucy Unger Wilhite. She was one of nine children. She graduated from Stilwell High School in 1946. On October 14, 1953, she married Willard Catcher. They had been married for 39 years.
One of her hobbies was gardening. Wanda always planted a large vegetable garden and canned vegetables. She made her own soup, and it was tasty! She planted flowers everywhere. Sometimes Dad would mow some flowers down and he would have to hear about it from her. In Wanda’s later years she raised orchids, and they were so beautiful. She also was a talented seamstress. She made clothes and quilts. She could make pretty hairpin lace. She also loved to cook. Her cinnamon rolls were so yummy!
Wanda was preceded in death by her parents Lucy and John Everret Wilhite; her husband Willard Catcher; daughter Kay Catcher; son-in-law Ken Adair; six brothers – Raymond, Omer, Orren, Grover Wilhite and two infant brothers; and one sister Imogene Thomas.
Those left here to cherish Wanda’s memory are her two daughters Karen Curnutte of Tahlequah, Oklahoma and Judy Catcher Adair of Cookson, Oklahoma; grandsons Greg Curnutte, wife Michelle, and daughters Hannah and Madeline of Sugarland, Texas, and Brad Adair of Cookson, Oklahoma; one sister Dorothy Workman of Stilwell, Oklahoma; and special friends Shirley Branch and Netta Hopkins.
