Bobby Scott

July 7, 1945 — January 18, 2023

Stilwell, OK

Bobby Dewane Scott was born in Titanic, OK on July 7, 1945. He was the 10th child born to Homer and Jessie Scott. He left this life on January 18, 2023 in Tulsa, OK at the age of 77. As a child, Bob lived on a farm and attended Freewater, a small two room school in the Titanic Community, through 8th grade. He then went on to Stilwell High School where he graduated in 1963. After graduation, he attended college at Northeastern Oklahoma A&M College in Miami and Northeastern State University in Tahlequah. He left Stilwell in 1966 for a few years to pursue work opportunities in Kansas City. Bob then returned home in 1975 to make Stilwell his permanent residence until his death.

In his younger days, Bob was very active and enjoyed hunting, fishing, carpentry, watching sports, raising German Shepherds, and coaching his son’s baseball teams. He was an attentive, fun-loving, and encouraging father who was extremely proud of his children. He spent a lot of quality time playing with, practicing, coaching, and teaching them many life-lessons, which included learning how to drive at an early age on the back roads of Adair County. Bob left his children with many great memories that included summer days at the creek, target practice, and sharing his love of history.

If you knew Bob, you knew just how proud he was of his children and grandchildren. He loved to share stories about them with others.

If you knew Bob, you also knew that he never met a stranger or dog he didn’t like.

He loved spending time with his family, friends, and his 2 dogs (Foxy and Shadow). He also enjoyed being outdoors, wood and leather-working, having a garden, and watching his grandchildren play sports. Bob always encouraged and praised all of his grandchildren for their academic achievements, school activities, and sporting endeavors. He continually let grandson Weston know that he was Papa’s hero.

Bob was preceded in death by his parents and 10 siblings; Virginia, Vera, Jean, Lorene, Irene, Homer D., Bill, Vernon and 2 infant boys.

Bob is survived by his loving partner, Becky Canada of Stilwell; 2 children, Lisa Parton of Grove, OK and Steve Scott of Fort Gibson, OK; 5 grandchildren, Mackenzie Hopper and husband Harvey of Clarksville, TN, Curtis Parton and wife Kaley of Owasso, OK, Mikayla, Carlee, and Weston Scott all of Fort Gibson, OK; 2 great grandchildren, Maximus and Susannah Hopper of Clarksville, TN; 1 brother, Rick Scott of Stilwell.
