December 26, 1936 ~ June 30, 2022 (age 85)

Obituary

Doralee Guthrie (Magre) was born on December 26, 1936, to John Lilburn Magre and Gladys Mae Jackson in Festus, Missouri (Jefferson County).

She graduated from Missouri Baptist Hospital School of Nursing in 1957 and worked as a registered nurse for over 30 years until 1998.

She married Carl Guthrie on September 18, 1961, in Spearman, Texas. They were married for 61 years, and had two daughters: Suzanne, and Karen. She attended Hill Grove Baptist Church in Kentucky, then Barber Baptist Church, and accepted the Lord as her Savior many years ago.

Doralee had an amazing way of showing love to each person in her family and loving them all equally. She would always see the good in people and would be the first to take up for someone. She was so gifted at making beautiful award-winning quilts. She loved to read and had quite the collection of books to show for it. Her grandkids and great grandkids were the light of her life. She loved spending time with them and doing special things for them.

She was preceded in death by parents: John and Gladys Magre; brother: John W. Magre; sister: Sylvia Lakey; and son-in-law: Michael Garrett.

She is survived by husband: Carl E. Guthrie; two daughters: Suzanne Garrett, and Karen Houston and husband Ronnie; four grandsons: Adam Garrett (wife Amber), David Garrett (wife Lacey), Hunter Scott, and Walker Scott; nieces: Gayle, Linda, Sherry, Debbie; and nephew: John Phillip; special cousin: Mary Lee; and many more cousins; and five great-grandchildren: Copper, Kyran, Zane, William, and Riley.
