Emmett Eads, Jr.

December 30, 1939 — July 2, 2020

Emmett Eads, Jr. the son of Emmett Sr. and Grace Eads Sunday was born December 30, 1939, in the Lyon's Switch community and departed this life on July 2, 2020, in Fayetteville, Arkansas at the age of 80 years, 6 months and 2 days.

Emmett served his country proudly in the United States Navy serving one tour in Vietnam. He pursued his education beginning at Northeastern State University where he earned his Bachelor's Degree in Industrial Arts. He taught at Broken Arrow Public Schools for one year and then went on to earn two Master's Degrees. He earned a Master's Degree in Social work from the University of Arkansas and a Master's Degree in Counseling from Oklahoma University. He worked as a district supervisor for DHS for 20 years and then worked for the civil service in Indian Health in Tahlequah and Lawton from 1997-2002. After retirement, he enjoyed spending time with his grandkids and working with his cattle and horses. He enjoyed travelling and seeing the country. Emmett touched many lives over the years and will be dearly missed by all who knew and loved him.

He was preceded in death by his parents.

He is survived by a loving family which includes his wife of 54 1/2 years Jean Eads of the home; his sons David Eads and wife Joni of Marlow, OK and Kevin Eads and wife LaDena of Springdale, AR; his brother Fred Jake Eads and wife Margaret of Lyon's Switch; his grandchildren Shane Eads, Shaye Coombes, Chad Eads and Hunter Eads; and his great-grandchildren Emma Coombes, Cloie Coombes, Stonewall Jackson Coombes, Finley Eads, Krue Eads and Lottie Eads. Several nieces, nephews, friends and other relatives also survive him.
