George Polecat

George Polecat, Jr. was born on September 18, 1946 in Adair County, Oklahoma to Sarah and George Polecat.  Just as the sun was coming up on Sunday, July 26, 2020, he took his last earthly breath surrounded by his family.

He was preceded in death by his parents, Sarah & George, three sisters, Ophelia Polecat, Georgia Polecat and Shirley Byrd, mother and father-in-law, Arch & Mary Vann, and one great grandson, Masen Coffman.

On October 1, 1965,

George married his sweetheart Frances Elaine Vann and to this union was born 7 children.  Family was everything to George and was his pride and joy.  He was saved in January 1973.  He helped pioneer the Log Cabin Church and after the church perished to a fire, he established Sheep Shed Holiness Church.  He loved to preach and sing.  George traveled the country spreading the gospel.  He always tried to encourage everyone to “Do this thing just right!”  Those who knew him knew he loved to make people laugh.  Just ask his family, they can tell you lots of stories.

George is survived by a loving family that includes his loving wife, Frances, of the home and their seven children – 4 daughters, Lenora and husband David, Lori and husband Randall, and Amanda Howard, all of Stilwell, OK, Rebekkah and husband Daniel of Reform, AL, 3 sons – George Elliott and wife Bobbie of Hectorville, OK, Jeremy and wife Heather of the home and Joseph and wife Shada of Peggs, OK.  One adopted daughter, Hilary Dunn.  Sixteen grandchildren – Danielle, Christy, Dewayne, Lindy, Kendrick, Kaci, Ashlee, Zechariah, Emily, Dilyn, Rylan, Taylan, Isaac, Moxin, Jace and Titus.  Fifteen great grandchildren – Kelsey, Allison, Jeremiah, Scooter, Gabe, Caleb, MaKayla, Skylar, Kymbrie, Keith, Kendrick Jr., Krisslyn, Scarlett, Kane and Mariah.  Two sisters – Mabe Still and Imogene Locust, two brothers – Denny Soap and Dallas Soap. As well as a host of family and friends also survive him.

Funeral services were held at 1 pm on Thursday, July 30, 2020 at New Life Church, Stilwell, OK with Bro.  Travis Martin, Bro. Kevin Webster and Bro. Dewayne O’Fields officiating.  Interment followed at the Polecat Family Cemetery, Stilwell, OK under the direction of Roberts/Reed-Culver Funeral Home, Stilwell, OK.
