Huey Horn

December 11, 1923 — September 16, 2020

Stilwell

Huey Haskell Horn was born December 11, 1923 in Leslie, Arkansas, He died at the age of 96 on September 16, 2020 at Northeastern Health Systems in Tahlequah, Oklahoma.  He resided in Stilwell, Oklahoma at the time of death.  He lived a long fulfilling life, doing everything he loved.  I sat and listened to many stories as a child and hung on every adventurous word as he would walk me through people he met, and places he visited.

He is preceded in death by his life partner Eula Hopkins.  Haskell is survived by a sister Marjorie Dobbs in Bastrop, Texas, a step son Roger Nolan in Stilwell, Oklahoma, a daughter Anna Weber Sterns in Fountain Hills, Arizona, two granddaughters Nowana Nolan of Muskogee, Oklahoma and Yvonne Young in Colcord, Oklahoma, a great granddaughter Lakaya Bentley,  five great-grandsons Jacob Farmer, Joshua Farmer, Kendrick Bentley, Carter Hudspeth and Skiton Nolan of Muskogee, Oklahoma, a cousin Selma (Sissy as he called her) of Westville, a nephew Charles Henderson and a great niece Shawn Garza.  There are many more nieces, nephews, uncles, aunts, cousins, grandchildren and great-grandchildren whose names are unlisted.

Haskell ,as he liked to be called or “Great One” by his grandchildren, was a brick mason and a loving father, grandfather, great-grandfather and great-great grandfather.  He enjoyed discussing politics with his friends and family, watching television, and bluegrass music.  We (Nowana and Yvonne) remember watching tv with him and their grandmother as children. They loved watching The Grand Ole Opry, rodeos, Hee Haw,  Perry Mason and Columbo. I loved spending my time at their house staying up until 11:00 p.m. watching Hee Haw and listening to them laugh.  He loved his coffee. I remember feeling important when I would carry his coffee to him down the hall and not spill any.  He enjoyed bluegrass music and would often watch it late at night along with a cup of coffee.  He would sing funny songs to me and my sister as children and continued the tradition with his great-grandchildren and great-great grandchildren.
