Jenny Panter

May 10, 1957 — August 30, 2019

Stilwell

Jenny Keturah Panter, daughter of Wesley and Lura (Osburn) Cox, was born May 10,1957, in Bakersfield, California. She passed from this life on August 30, 2019, at her home in Stilwell, Oklahoma. Her family moved from California to Stilwell when she was in the third grade. She attended Wauhilla, Maryetta and Stilwell schools, graduating from Stilwell High School in 1975. Jenny was married to Stephen Panter in June of 1975 and their home was made in Stilwell.

Jenny was talented and adept at doing many different things. She worked as a cook in her parents Stilwell Cafe at a very early age before and after school. Being tall helped her to be an accomplished basketball player for the Stilwell Lady Indians. After being married, she continued, for a time, working at the cafe, then for many years, she served as the financial secretary at First Christian Church and kept books at Stilwell Lumber Company. Cross-stitching and sewing were an enjoyment to her, and a great cook she was. All three of her children were involved in football, basketball and other sports, and Jenny was always going to games to cheer them on. Her health began to fail her early in life, but she always managed to get to those games and activities. Because all three children went to the University of Oklahoma, Jenny became a huge OU fan and could yell Boomer-Sooner! with the best of them. Her health continued to fail, but she pressed on to attend close to 70 OU football games to watch her sons. She also enjoyed collecting items such as teddy bears, Longaberger baskets, Precious Moments and Boyd’s Bears.

Jenny was preceded in death by her grandparents, her father Wesley Cox, and one brother, Reggy Cox.

Jenny is survived by her husband, Stephen Panter of the home; her three children, Dr. Benjamin Panter and wife Meagen of Moore, OK; Adam Panter and wife Jennifer of Shawnee, OK; and Misty Panter of Stilwell; three granddaughters, Corbyn Blair Panter, Adalyn Emma Panter and Arlie Elizabeth Panter; her mother Lura Cox of Peggs, OK; sisters Peggy Ritchie and husband Jack of Stilwell; Betsy Lawson and husband Eddy of Siloam Springs, AR; brothers Wesley Cox and wife Susan of Stilwell, OK; John Cox and wife Rhonda of Peggs, OK; and Burl Cox of Victoria, TX; sisters-in-law Vicki Cox Wilson and husband Eldon of Stilwell, OK; Melissa Cole and husband Lloyd of Stilwell, OK; and Julie Panter and husband Chris Taylor of Cave Creek, AZ. Also surviving her are many nieces, nephews, cousins, family and friends.
