Joe Hogner

October 11, 1953 — July 8, 2022

Stilwell

Joe Wayne Hogner was born to Kenie Hogner and Dovie (Studie) Hogner on October 11, 1953, at home in Stilwell, Oklahoma, and passed from this life July 8, 2022, in Tulsa, Oklahoma, with his family by his side. He was 68 years old.

Joe graduated from Haskell Indian College, in Lawrence, Kansas, on May 19, 1972, with an Associate of Applied Science in Business Education. After college, Joe enlisted in the United States Army and proudly served this country from May 1973 to May 1979, earning a National Service medal and a Rifle Marksman medal. He also served a year stationed in Korea.

After leaving the Army, Joe worked many years in Stilwell at Facet. He retired from Easco/Danaher Company after 20 plus years in Springdale in 2015. He worked hard his entire life. The long drive and long hours he worked caused him to miss many family gatherings, dinners, and birthdays but he was truly enjoying his retirement and never missed another family gathering after.

Joe never married or had children of his own but cherished his sister Reba’s two girls: Shannon, and Aretha. Later, he was blessed with the addition of their husbands and their children. He was incredibly proud of his Shane and Steven and Logan and Jill and loved hearing about and getting to attend the events they participated in. He was great support and encourager.

Joe was an avid OU sports fan and never missed a game. He made an exception for a few years to watch OSU football when Shane chose to go to college there. He also loved playing golf when he could. He enjoyed talking on the phone with friends and doing DIY projects at home and helping his friends with their projects.

In the past few years, he attended Grace Chapel Church and he loved coming to learn and to fellowship with everyone.

Those preceding him in death are his parents: Kenie and Dovie Hogner; his sisters: Lorene, and Irene Hogner; a brother: Jimmy Hogner; and his brother-in-law: Barney Holloway.

Joe is survived by his sister: Reba Holloway; two nieces and their husbands: Shannon and Randy Parker, and Aretha and Gary Pruitt all of Stilwell, OK. He also leaves his three great-nephews: Shane Parker of Midwest City, OK, Steven Parker, and Logan Pruitt of Stilwell; and one great-niece: Jill Pruitt of Stilwell. He is also survived by many cousins and friends.

Joe left this world a happy man and we will forever miss him.
