Joseph “Joe Mike” Michael White was born on July 8th, 1955 in Tahlequah, Oklahoma and departed this life to be with the Lord on Tuesday, August 31st, 2021.  Joe Mike is the son of the late Noel Joe and Erma Lorene White.

Joe Mike was a 1973 graduate of Stilwell High School.  As a child, he was very interested in dinosaurs, was active in Boy Scouts and loved climbing trees.  In high school, he was active in football and wrestling.  Upon graduation, Joe Mike joined the Marine Reserves where he served our country for 7 years.  He was a jokester who loved spending time with family and friends and would do anything for anyone.

Joe Mike attended Oklahoma State University where he majored in Fire Protection.  While at OSU, he was a member of the Pi Kappa Alpha Fraternity and was loved by all.  Upon completing his degree, he went on to work as a Fire Protection Engineer at the City of Dallas Fire Department, City of Phoenix Fire Department, City of Austin Fire Department, and the Los Alamos National Laboratory in Los Alamos, New Mexico.  He was passionate about fire protection and shared his knowledge with many fire protection professionals.

Joe Mike was a sweet man with a caring soul.  He was a devoted animal lover who was active in several animal rescue organizations and often rescued Persian cats.  His Persian cats (he lovingly called “the herd”); Mikey, Tommy, Kami, Jesse, Boots and Oscar were his pride and joy.

Joe Mike is proceeded in death by his parents, Noel Joe White and Lorene White of Westville and sister-in-law, Melvonna Dunaway.

He is survived by his sister; Debra Hummingbird of Baron, brother; Ron Dunaway and wife Jennifer of Tulsa, sister; Wendy Kimble and husband Jeff of Westville; nephews, Heath Watt and his wife Maegon of Westville, Hunter Littlejohn of Westville, Dylan and his wife Luz Kimble of Westville;  nieces, Rachel Hummingbird of Baron, Rebecca and her husband Bret Barton of Stilwell, Courtney Kimble of Westville, Dara Fountain of Stilwell, Cara and husband Hunter Stevens of Stilwell, Sara Fountain of Rogers, Arkansas and Mackenzie Duncan of Tulsa; great nieces and nephews; Ellie and Edie Barton, Julia Littlejohn, Aiden Kimble, Blaze Christie, Everly Christie, Ridge Stevens, and Ruger Osbourn.  A host of other family and friends also survive him.
