Laurinda Jayne “Duck” Woods
Laurinda Jayne “Duck” Woods passed away on July 27, 2022 in Stilwell, OK after long struggles with her health. She is remembered for her infectious laugh, generosity of spirit, and a great love for all animals. Visitation will be from 4 – 7 p.m. on Thursday, August 4. Funeral services are scheduled for Friday, August 5 at 4 p.m. Both events will be held at Roberts-Reed-Culver in Stilwell.
Laurie was born on February 5, 1974 in Sallisaw, OK to the late Larry K. and Evelyn Kay (Buckner) Woods. She attended public school at Gans, OK and later Roland, OK . She graduated in 1993 from Roland High School where she was active in 4-H and choir. Her classmates remember her a true friend who liked to laugh, have fun, and was always there for them. She worked at Wal-Mart in Stilwell for several years. Many people in town knew her from her greetings and conversations at the store.
Her parents preceded her in death as did her grandparents. Maternal grandparents were Leland Dow and Evelyn Lois Buckner of Stilwell. Paternal grandparents J.K. and Lola Faye Woods resided in Muldrow.
She is survived by her son Noah K. Woods and companion Chrishia Girdner of Tahlequah; sister Dr. Evelyn Ritter and husband Chris of Tahlequah; aunts, uncles, cousins, and friends. Her twin unborn grandsons will learn about the love she had for them from the memories her family holds in their hearts. She also leaves her beloved dogs and cats who knew her better than any of us humans.
Pall bearers will include Noah K, Woods, Ryan Nolan, Chris Ritter, William Buckner, Robert Fuson, Sr., Greg Allgood, Samuel Allgood, Nathan Allgood, John Buckner, James Buckner, and James Fields. Cousins Clay Buckner, Tammy Allgood, and Christina Fuson will read at her services. She will be eulogized by her son and sister. Rick Ritter will lead prayers.
Duck is greatly missed by so many. She genuinely enjoyed movies, TikTok, her fur babies, chatting on the phone, crinkle-cut French fries, and chocolate milk. She made it a point to check in with people and make sure they were doing okay. Her laugh, tender heart, willingness to help anyone in need, and way with animals will be comforting memories.
