Lee Eagle

Lee Roy Eagle, son of William and Sarah (Coleman) Eagle, was born on January 9, 1933 in Sequoyah County, Oklahoma and passed from this life on Monday, July 6, 2020 at the Washington Regional Hospital in Fayetteville, Arkansas at the age of 87 years, 5 months and 28 days.

Lee served his country proudly for many years in the U.S. Army.  He enlisted in 1953 and kept reenlisting until he retired as a Staff Sergeant in the 1970’s.  Lee served during Korea and Vietnam.  He earned many decorations, medals, badges and citations during his military career, including 2 Good Conduct Medals, 2 National Defense Service Medals with Oak Leaf Cluster, a Vietnam Service Medal, Vietnam Campaign Medal, Army of Occupation Medal and 4 O/S Bars.   During his enlistment, he spent time in many locations, including Georgia, North Carolina, Texas, Greenland and Germany.

After his retirement from the Army, he came home and began a second career as an auto mechanic.  He could fix just about anything.  Lee would always lend a helping hand with a smile on his face.

Lee loved his family and cherished their time together.

He leaves behind a host of family and friends.  They include his step-children: Sue Kennisten of Caledonia, MI, Melvina Bowen, Viola Poor (Mike), Glenda Watkins, all of Stilwell, OK, Eva Barr (Charley) of Briggs, OK, Pete Sawney of Fayetteville, AR, Emmett Sawney, Jr. (Debbie) of Tahlequah, OK, Kenneth Sawney of Caney Ridge, OK, siblings: Juanita Terrapin (William), Oleta Dornbrack of Stilwell, Lucky Eagle (Kazuko) of Hayward, CA, John Eagle (Judy) of Fayetteville, Kahleetah Sexton of Green Bay, WI, his grandchildren and special nurse, Melinda Alley.

Lee was preceded in death by his parents: William and Sarah Eagle, daughter: Caroline Eagle, wife: Lucy (Shell-Sawney) Eagle, siblings: Cecil Eagle, Bonita Eagle, Willeta Duncan, stepsons: James Sawney and Angelo Sawney.
