Mamie Claphan

March 5, 1925 — February 28, 2021

Stilwell

Mamie Alpha Claphan, peacefully slipped into the arms of Jesus, the morning of Sunday, February 28, 2021, with the love of her family surrounding her.

Mamie was born in Akins, OK to Pinckney Ann Emberton and Walter Edward Green on March 5, 1925. She married Clarence Dudley “Dud” Claphan, in August of 1950 and little did she know, how many would know her as "Granny"; she was a devoted mother, wife, grandmother, and aunt.

She is survived by her two daughters, Linda Robinson, of Kansas, OK; Glenda and son-in-law, Eric Wilson, of Kansas, OK; Five grandchildren, Sonny Robinson and Susie Robinson, both of Kansas, OK; Melody Barker and husband Gene, of Pottsboro, TX; Joe Harris, of Siloam Springs, AR; and Lauren Harris, of Colcord, OK; 16 great- grandchildren, 16 great-great grandchildren, as well as numerous relatives and friends.

She was a devoted member of the Free Holiness Church of Stilwell for more than 50 years. Mamie was 25 years old when she was saved by Jesus; thereafter, she spent her time praising the Lord and sharing her testimony of faith. Her love for the Lord was fierce, as she walked to church in every type of weather every time they had the door open for service.

Mamie was Heavensent to many, in multiple ways; she made sure anyone who asked anything of her never went without; she made sure they had a place to rest their head or a warm meal. She was known to have a strong work ethic, walking to work everyday, including a weekend job. Mamie worked in housekeeping at Stilwell Memorial Hospital and Dr. Green’s office for many years; most of her working years were spent at Stilwell’s canning company, where she retired. Retirement didn’t stop her, she wasn’t fond of idle hands. You may have often found her pulling weeds in the yard ("There might be a snake in there" she would always say). She was a woman of many passions, including quilting, yard sale-ing, catalog shopping, cleaning house, and singing gospel songs. She always said "I love everyone. I want to go to Heaven with you all.” Most of all, she loved spending time with her family and friends.

Mamie is preceded in death by her husband, Dud; her parents, Pinckney and Walter, mentioned above; 7 of her siblings: Ather and Audie Green, Dorothy Lockwood, Margie Flynn, Amy Beery, Dale Green, and Reba Kester; and one grandson, Derrick Robinson, of Stilwell, OK.
