Sarah Workman

December 8, 1933 — April 21, 2022

Stilwell

Sarah Susie (Unger) Workman was born December 8, 1933, to Walter and Bertha (Ex) Unger and departed this life for Heaven on Thursday, April 21, 2022. Sarah married the love of her life: Calvin Coolidge Workman on December 11, 1950. To this union six children were born: Daryl, Carolyn, Dennis, Michael, Calvin Leo, and Norman.

Sarah was preceded in death by her husband: Calvin; son: Daryl Stephen Workman; grandchildren: Steven Workman, Lewis Workman, Megan Workman; great grandchild: Brandon Ross; great-great grandchild: Amber Miller; one sister: Frances Birdwell; and six brothers: Harvey, Bob, Gene, Bill, Pete, and Joe Unger.

Sarah is survived by her family, including her daughter: Carolyn Alexander (Phil), Dennis Workman (Susie), Michael Workman, Calvin Leo Workman (Pamela), Norman Workman (Sherri); along with sixteen grandchildren; twenty-two great grandchildren; eleven great-great grandchildren; one sister: Wilma Campbell, and a host of nieces and nephew and family that loved her.

The only thing Sarah enjoyed and loved more than her family was her Lord. She was always happy to serve the Lord. She made it her priority for people to know that Jesus loves them. It always made her so happy to see her kids and grand babies come sit in her pew beside her. Sarah was a member at Elm Grove Baptist Church and enjoyed attending services until her health just would not allow it.

Sarah worked out of her home for many years, but after retirement she enjoyed many hobbies including reading her Bible, quilting, and sewing, gardening, canning, and cooking. She loved to share these hobbies with her family, teaching her grandchildren the skills to make a home. When her health allowed, she enjoyed working in the garden and in her flowers. She always looked forward to Spring, to be outside on the porch swing watching the hummingbirds on the feeder and taking a walk up the road or around the pasture with her dog: Sheba.

Sarah's greatest joy was her family. She spent many summer days with a house full of grandchildren. She taught them how to work the garden, but she would also enjoy a popsicle with them while blowing bubbles and playing in the yard. She was always so happy to see pictures and hear about the activities everyone was involved in. She enjoyed feeding her family and anyone who came along… even if it was just a cup of coffee and a couple of cookies, she always made sure you were fed.
